Vintage Japanese Music Jewelry & Music Box with Lights (lights not working)

Here is a
vintage Japanese Black Lacquer Music/Jewelry box.
This pre-owned piece is in good condition.  There are small areas of paint missing on the little drawer at the front that holds the key.  This can be seen in the photos.  Other than that, the only other places that are missing paint are on the edges of the feet at the bottom of the piece and on a couple of the corners of the lid. If you scroll through the photos you can see the areas where small bits of paint are missing or worn away.
The music box works well.
The lights that are under the colored floral glass beneath the two top flip out doors do not work.
This piece requires 2 "D" batteries and I did replace them with new batteries to see if the lights work, and unfortunately they do not.  Perhaps someone with a bit more electrical background can get these 4 red and green lights to work.  The entire box measures about 7.25" x 5" x 4" tall.  I don't recall ever seeing one with lights in it like this one.  This will ship without batteries to reduce weight.  Enjoy!
